Heartburn
may be the first sign of a more serious problem, gastroesophageal
reflux disease (GERD), or even cancer. If you have heartburn
or acid indigestion more than twice a week, you may
have reflux disease. The term reflux refers
to the upward flow of stomach acid causing heartburn.
Most reflux problems can be treated medically without
surgery. Accurate diagnosis and evaluation help Dr.
McBee determine the best approach. In severe cases,
surgical treatment can resolve your problem. If surgery
is needed, Dr. McBee prefers to use the Hill repair
technique, which provides for:
Decreased rate of reoccurrence
Fewer unwanted side effects of anti-reflux surgery
Improvement of swallowing and natural esophageal
function

Surgery of the colon and rectum may be needed to treat
cancer, diverticulitis and other problems. Fortunately,
Dr. McBee has the advanced training and experience you

treatment for a variety of benign and malignant diseases
of the colon, rectum and small bowel:
